How to get started with Graphic designing in 2021
A beginners guide to master Graphic designing
Every second person on social media these days scream at us saying “Hey you dumb fellow lying on the bed,go learn a skill and get a life for yourself”. But no one really cared to list out the exact way to do so.
So,Here I am,an equally dumb and lazy guy sharing my journey of How I got started and became a less pathetic Graphic designer.Lets get started,Roll the intro!
When you try to get into this huge palace,you will have to encounter the security guards called the “Absolute basics”. When I started learning the basics,I felt overwhelmed and had the thought “I will learn these and become a fcking master”…. Poor me! So,speaking about basics you will have to be familiar with some concepts like ‘Typography,Layout,Composition and Color’ and you are good to go.
The best place to learn these concepts is from this amazing playlist. Have a look at this and take notes,these concepts prove to be extremely helpful even while dealing with complex designs. Also, Here is the small notes that I made while learning this.
Once you cross the security guards,you will stand hopeless in front of a giant door.The key to open this door is your “Design sense”. Your ability to not suck! You should be able to distinguish between a good and a bad design.
Imagine you have a Zee5 subscription and you have the option to choose between 100s of films,but whether you watch “His story” or “Radhe” is what makes the difference. Be a good consumer is what I am trying to say.You can develop your design sense by following some of the best designers in India like Akshat Pathak and Ranganath Krishnamani .

When you manage to get through the giant door,the goal is to get to the ultimate throne. Here comes the interesting part,Doing projects! Gone are the days where you binge through a bunch of tutorials and collect a bunch of certificates and brag about it on LinkedIn.
Instead,the best way to learn the tool is by Creating clones. Pick the homepage UI of your favourite app and start copying it using your tool. In this way,you can improve your technical and design sense by tenfold. When I started out,I copied the Homepage of spotify and it taught me more concepts and gave me more insights a than simple youtube tutorial.
There you go! This is no rocket science. Boils down to simple math.
Strong fundamental knowledge+Good design sense+Familiarity with the tool+Working on projects=Great Graphic designer.
